People spend an incredible amount of time worrying about what happens in the bedroom. Am I attractive enough? Am I experienced enough? Is my body good enough? Am I lasting long enough? Do I know enough tricks? Should I somehow transform into a combination of a romance-novel hero, fitness model, and mind reader the second the bedroom door closes?
Relax.
While every woman is different, there are plenty of things that many women simply do not care about nearly as much as their partners imagine. Great sex is usually much less about putting on a flawless performance and much more about chemistry, comfort, communication, attention, and actually enjoying each other.
One of the biggest things women often don’t care about is perfection. You don’t need a flawless body. You don’t need perfect lighting. You don’t need movie-star confidence. Real bodies have scars, stretch marks, wrinkles, softness, hair, cellulite, awkward angles, and occasionally make strange noises at extremely inconvenient moments. Welcome to being human.
And chances are, while you’re obsessing over something you consider a “flaw,” your partner isn’t conducting a forensic investigation of it. She’s probably much more interested in whether you’re present, affectionate, enthusiastic, and making her feel wanted.
Women also generally aren’t keeping a scoreboard of your sexual résumé. Having had a huge number of partners doesn’t automatically make someone amazing in bed, and having had relatively few doesn’t automatically make someone inexperienced in any meaningful way. Being willing to listen and learn your particular partner can matter far more than arriving with a catalog of supposedly impressive moves.
Then there’s the obsession with lasting forever.
Longer does not automatically mean better. Sex isn’t an endurance competition, and nobody hands out medals afterward. What matters more is whether both people are enjoying themselves. Someone who pays attention to their partner for twenty minutes can be infinitely sexier than someone determined to break an imaginary bedroom world record.
The same applies to penis size. Popular culture has convinced generations of men that women are secretly walking around with rulers and minimum requirements. In reality, preferences vary enormously, and size alone tells you remarkably little about whether two people will have satisfying sex. Attentiveness, communication, attraction, affection, creativity, and understanding what your partner actually enjoys can matter much more.
Another thing many women don’t need? A performance.
You don’t have to act like you know exactly what you’re doing every second. In fact, pretending you know everything can be much less attractive than simply asking, “Do you like that?” Being curious about your partner isn’t evidence that you’re bad in bed. It’s evidence that you’re paying attention.
And please stop believing every sexual encounter needs to look like a movie scene. Sometimes someone’s knee bends strangely. Sometimes somebody gets a cramp. Sometimes you try something new and immediately discover that neither of you likes it. Sometimes you start laughing and can’t stop. None of that means the chemistry disappeared.
Sometimes laughing together is chemistry.
Women also don’t necessarily expect you to initiate every single time, dominate every encounter, or magically know what they’re thinking. Confidence can be attractive, but confidence doesn’t mean pretending to possess psychic powers. Ask questions. Notice reactions. Let your partner communicate what she wants.
Most importantly, many women care far less about whether you are technically “perfect” than whether you make them feel comfortable enough to actually enjoy themselves.
That means being present instead of mentally grading yourself. It means caring about her pleasure rather than treating sex as a performance review. It means respecting boundaries without making things awkward. It means being able to laugh when something silly happens. It means realizing that intimacy doesn’t need to be flawless to be fantastic.
Because the person who is desperately trying to impress you can sometimes be far less sexy than the person who is genuinely enjoying you.
So stop worrying about looking perfect, knowing every trick, lasting some magical amount of time, or matching whatever ridiculous standard you’ve picked up from movies, porn, friends, or the internet.
Women aren’t one giant hive mind, of course. Every woman has her own preferences. That’s exactly the point.
You don’t need to figure out what all women want.
You only need to care enough to discover what the woman you’re with wants.
And that might be the sexiest skill of all.
